  • June 23, 2010— The Washington Historical Society joined
    the Washington District Library Children’s Department
    Summer reading program, “Scare up a Good Book”, to bring
    summer readers (grades two through five) on a mini walk
    through Glendale Cemetery. Greeted by costumed guides, the
    students visited four sites to witness portrayals of historic
    Washington residents.
  • More good news for history detectives. The Illinois State
    Genealogical Society has landed the 2010 Fall Conference
    in Peoria this year. Considering most of the conferences have
    been held in Chicago, we are blessed with this fine slate of
